ABOUT MELS
Established in 1947, Mels Drive-In is the most famous drive-in and diner in the world and is considered a fixture of American contemporary life. Although established as part of the California culture much earlier, Mels iconic American brand status was fully realized in the 1973 comedy-drama "American Graffiti" directed by George Lucas and produced by Francis Ford Coppola and is still going strong.
INSPIRATIONAL LEADERSHIP
You would think that inspiring a George Lucas film would be enough. However, in addition to American Graffiti, Mels has also been credited with inspiring two incredibly successful TV shows, ABC’s “Happy Days”, featuring “Arnold’s Drive-In” and CBS’s “Alice” featuring the similarly named ”Mels Diner”.
Decades later, with the oversight of the founding family members of Steven Weiss and sons Colton and Chasen Weiss, Mels continues to operate with the same devotion to perfection as it began.

Mels Drive-In appeals to people of all ages and from all walks of life. Millennials, Gen Z, tourist, late-night singles as well as countless Hollywood and music industry celebrities all frequent Mels. Today, its possible to get a peak at Al Pacino, Jack Nicholson, Paul McCartney, Harvey Keitel, Jay Leno, Tom Hardy, Adam Sandler, Kanye West, P Diddy, Snoop Dogg, Diplo, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Xzibit, Wiz Khalifa, and Post Malone… just to name a few. Harry Styles has ordered the chicken tenders and onion rings so many times that we named the order after him!
